Hello. Welcome to dbam the home of Daniel Brine Arts Management.

I am an arts manager who has led venues, festival, cultural development agencies and worked in arts funding. I am experienced programmer and cultural leader. I excel at balancing the management of day to day business with long term strategic thinking. The cultural landscape is continually changing and we need to be creative in our approach to adapting our organisations to meet the evolving needs and interests of artists and audiences.

I am Artistic Director and Chief Executive of Norfolk & Norwich Festival.  Our festival takes place in Norwich and around Norfolk each May and is multi-artform, contemporary, international and audience-centred. Year-round NNF delivers Festival Connect & Create a creativity and participation initiative to improve the cultural offer for children and young people and their communities in East Anglia.  

Between 2012 and 2017 I was Artistic Director and Chief Executive of Cambridge Junction, the contemporary arts centre where art meets life.  At Cambridge Junction I oversaw a complete turnaround, where I articulated a strong artistic vision, redefined the brand, restructured staffing, and provided financial leadership.

Previously I have been Artistic Director and Chief Executive of Performance Space (2009-11), Australia’s leading organisation for the development and presentation of interdisciplinary arts.  Between 2001 and 2008 I was Associate Director of the Live Art Development Agency where I worked closely with Lois Keidan on curatorial projects including Live Culture a landmark performance event at Tate Modern in 2003.

In 2000 I was co-director of the NOW Festival in Nottingham with Andrew Caleya Chetty. I have worked for both Arts Council England and Creative Australia (formerly Australia Council) as a funding officer.

I am a trustee of Future Arts Centres and have previously served on the boards of Blast Theory and Gob Squad.  I have been chair of Mobile States, Touring Contemporary Performance, Australia and the UK Festival Directors Network.

I have degrees in architecture and arts management.
